Highest Tourism Growth Rate recorded in North-East
North-Eastern region of the India recorded the highest growth in tourist arrivals in
both foreign and domestic categories
Over 6% of the Foreign Tourists coming to India visited the North-East in 2010-
2011.
In domestic sector, the figure was over 8% per cent compared to the all India rate of 7%
India decisively dedicated to principles of SAARC: PM
Inaugurating the 5th Conference of Association of SAARC Speakers and
Parliamentarians in New Delhi, Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh said

Solicitor General of India Resigns
Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramaniam resigned from his
post. Mr Subramaniam was upset at telecom ministry’s move to hire a
private lawyer to represent the ministry in the 2G case

The mortal remains of the Ms Sadhana Amte were laid to rest at the
Anandvan premises in Warora taluka of Chandrapur district,
Maharashtra

‘Samidha’: Her Autobiography
Sadhana Amte (86) passed away after prolonged illness
She is survived by sons Dr Vikas, and Magsaysay Award winner Dr Prakash Amte
She supported her husband in establishing a rehabilitation colony for leprosy
patients, `Anandwan’, several decades ago

She also stood by her Husband all through the struggle and turbulent phases of
life including the Narmada Bachao Andolan
‘Samidha’: Her Autobiography, is a document of the dreams she and her
Husband dreamt for humankind and their struggle to put life into them
For the recognition of her Service she was Conferred upon many awards including
Chaturang Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2007 for her notable
contribution in the field of social work

Bill to protect Consumers’ Interests, probably to be
introduced in the Monsoon Session
Bill to protect Consumers’ Interests against dubious operators in the real estate

The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill 2011, prepared by the
Housing and Poverty Alleviation Ministry, intends to encourage planned
development of real estate and protection of public interest among others
As per the draft:
Developers will need to make public disclosures related to land title, project
completion date and other relevant scheme details on the website of the
proposed regulatory authority
The promoters will also have to register themselves with the regulatory
authority
